Election Remark
Gabor A. Somorjai (born May 4, 1935) is a professor of chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley, and is a leading researcher in the field of surface chemistry and catalysis, especially the catalytic effects of metal surfaces on gas-phase reactions ("heterogeneous catalysis").

For his contributions to the field, Somorjai won the Wolf Prize in Chemistry in 1998, the Linus Pauling Award in 2000, the National Medal of Science([citation needed]) in 2002, the Priestley Medalin 2008, the 2010 BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award in Basic Science and the NAS Award in Chemical Sciences in 2013.

In April 2015, Somorjai was awarded the American Chemical Society's William H. Nichols Medal.

In 2012, he was elected as member of the European Academy of Engineering and elected as Emeritus member in 2023.

Gabor A. Somorjai spends much of his time researching Catalysis, Inorganic chemistry, Platinum, Nanoparticle and Nanotechnology.

His Catalysis research is multidisciplinary, incorporating elements of Chemical engineering and Adsorption.

Gabor A. Somorjai combines subjects such as Hydrogen, Oxide, Chemical reaction, Carbon monoxide and Oxidizing agent with his study of Inorganic chemistry.

Gabor A. Somorjai interconnects Overlayer, Physical chemistry, Ethylene, Photochemistry and Torr in the investigation of issues within Platinum.

His Nanoparticle research incorporates elements of Rhodium, Metal, Particle size and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.

His study looks at the relationship between Nanotechnology and topics such as Bimetallic strip, which overlap with Reaction conditions.
