Election Remark
Sir Michael Francis Atiyah was one of the most influential mathematicians of his time, known for his work in geometry and topology.

He was awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 and the Abel Prize in 2004 for his discovery of the Atiyah-Singer Index Theorem, which has become a cornerstone of differential geometry and theoretical physics.

He was a professor at the University of Edinburgh and served as president of the Royal Society.

He was elected as member of the European Academy of Engineering in 2003.
