Election Remark
Peter Higgs is a British theoretical physicist, emeritus professor at the University of Edinburgh, and Nobel Prize laureate.

He is best known for his proposal of the Higgs mechanism, which predicted the existence of the Higgs boson, sometimes referred to as the "God particle."

His work was confirmed with the discovery of the Higgs boson by the Large Hadron Collider in 2012, leading to the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2013.

Higgs's work has profoundly impacted our understanding of the fundamental structure of matter.

He was elected as member of the European Academy of Engineering in 1997.
