Election Remark
Kurt Wüthrich is an eminent figure in the field of structural biology, with his Nobel Prize-winning work on the application of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy to biological molecules altering the landscape of medical chemistry and biochemistry.

Wüthrich’s methods have facilitated the detailed study of the three-dimensional structures of proteins in solution, greatly advancing the understanding of their functions in healthy and diseased states.

He was elected as member of the European Academy of Engineering in 2002.
