Alfred V. Aho was a Canadian computer scientist best known for his work on programming languages, compilers, and related algorithms.

His seminal work with Jeffrey D. Ullman and John E. Hopcroft produced classic textbooks on algorithms and data structures that educated generations of computer scientists.

He was elected as member of the European Academy of Engineering in 2002.
