Election Remark
Vladimir Pavlovich Barmin (1909–1993) was a distinguished Russian mechanical engineer who played a pivotal role in the former Soviet Union's space exploration program.

As the architect of the first Soviet rocket launch facilities at the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Barmin's work was critical to the early successes of space exploration in the USSR.

Educated at Bauman Moscow State Technical University with a specialization in refrigeration technology, Barmin's expertise extended from designing domestic refrigeration units to developing rocket propulsion systems during World War II.

His career was adorned with high Soviet honors, including the Hero of Socialist Labour and multiple State Prizes.

The asteroid 22254 Vladbarmin commemorates his contributions to aerospace engineering.

He was elected as the founding member of the Euorpean Academy of Engineering in 1992.
