After graduation in medicine, he was intrigued by physiology, where he spent my first years as post-doc to work on brain stem.

He then moved on to study muscle-bone interactions and vibration exercise.

Today his interest is musculoskeletal mechanophysiology and metabolism, and how this affects our health with regards to space, immobilization, and training across the lifespan.

He was elected as member of the Euorpean Academy of Engineering in 2023.
