Election Remark
Frank Frederick Borman II is a distinguished American figure, known for his myriad contributions to air and space exploration. As an aeronautical engineer, USAF colonel, NASA astronaut, and businessman, Borman’s legacy is highlighted by his command of Apollo 8, humanity's maiden voyage around the Moon.

His stellar West Point graduation placed him well for a USAF career where he distinguished himself as a fighter pilot, an academic, and later, as a test pilot. As a member of NASA's "Next Nine," Borman’s space ventures peaked with the historic Apollo 8 mission, yielding the iconic Earthrise image and a poignant Christmas Eve broadcast.

Transitioning from astronautics to corporate leadership, Borman led Eastern Air Lines through its most profitable era, grappling with the challenges of deregulation and union relations before stepping down.

He then embraced entrepreneurship in the automotive and cattle industries, cultivating a life as enduring as his contributions to space exploration.

He was elected as member of the Euorpean Academy of Engineering in 1992 and promoted as Emeritus member in 1995.
